ANGELS: K-Rod Goes Nuts
August 14, 2008
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim closer Francisco Rodriguez had a rare blow-up and let the Mariners back in the game with three earned runs on three hits and a walk while recording just one out in a blown save on Wednesday.
BOTTOM LINE: He was also ejected for arguing balls and strikes. K-Rod has been one of the best closers in the game this season, but he has hit a bit of a rough patch. Look for him to come back smoothly.
ANGELS: Trade for Mark Teixeira
July 30, 2008
Former Atlanta Braves first basemen Mark Teixeira has been traded to the Los Angeles Angels of anaheim for Casey Kotchman and a minor league pitching prospect.
BOTTOM LINE: It looks like the Braves have thrown in the towel on their season. If you are wondering about Teixeira’s value, it doesn’t change much. He will hit third in a loaded Angels lineup. start him immediately.
ANGELS: Lackey Just Misses No-No
July 30, 2008
Los Angeles Angels starter John Lackey took a no-hitter into the ninth inning and pitched a complete game to beat the Red Sox on Tuesday.
BOTTOM LINE: Lackey lost the no-hitter when Dustin Pedroia singled with one out in the ninth. Kevin Youkilis followed with a two-run bomb to kill the shutout bid. It was a masterful performance.
ANGELS: K-Rod Having Magical Year
July 29, 2008
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim closer Francisco Rodriguez recorded his major league best 44th save in 47 chances Monday.
BOTTOM LINE: He has been by far the best closer in baseball this year, and he is only 13 saves away from the record. He may become a free agent following the season, and he could probably get $15 million per season or more. We will wait and see.
ANGELS: Guerrero is Back
July 8, 2008
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Vladimir Guerrero has finally found consistency as he went 3-for-4 with a home run in the Angels’ victory over the Rangers on Monday.
BOTTOM LINE: After having a great month of June, July has been just as good for the all star right fielder. Look for the Angels to be more dangerous with his new found success.
ANGELS: K-ROD is Human
June 19, 2008
Anaheim Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez blew only his second save of the season in Wednesday’s loss to the Mets. Prior to this, K-ROD had converted 25 straight save chances successfully.
BOTTOM LINE: Jose Reyes started the rally with a single, and he advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, David Wright flared one into left to tie the game. Rodriguez was very upset with himself. But, he should remember that he leads the majors with 28 saves in an awesome campaign thus far.
ANGELS: Weaver Disappointing
June 17, 2008
BOTTOM LINE: Weaver should not feel comfortable, because although the Angels are grooming Kelvim Escobar to be a reliever when he comes back, Weaver’s struggles could send Escobar right back into the rotation.
ANGELS: Vlad Slumping
June 9, 2008
BOTTOM LINE: Guerrero hasn’t been the same fantasy player that he was three or four years ago, but he is still in the top echelon of outfielders in the game. Vlad needs a day off to clear his head, and then maybe after that he will get his stroke back. I wouldn’t sit him just yet. Keep putting him out there.
