GIANTS: Burris Has Bum Ankle
July 29, 2008
New Yourk Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress’ current injury is to the same ankle as last season’s but the type of injury is different, according to the New York Giants’ official web site.
BOTTOM LINE: They expect him back relatively soon, and this doesn’t look like something that fantasy owners should be overly concerned with. But, just to be safe, keep an eye on this until he returns.
PACKERS: Grant Still Not at Practice
July 28, 2008
Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant did not report to the opening day of training camp on Sunday, according to the Associated Press.
BOTTOM LINE: Grant is unhappy about his contract situation, and he will wait until it is resolved. Mike McCarthy is concerned, but as a fantasy player, you shouldn’t be. If this lingers into August, then it may be time to start taking notice. Until then, he still remains a top ten running back.
DOLPHINS: Brown Returns to Practice
July 28, 2008
Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown practiced in full pads on Sunday for the first time since tearing his right ACL last October, according to the Miami Herald.
BOTTOM LINE: Brown exited the practice early after being tackled downfield, but he insisted that he was fine. Head Coach Tony Sparano said that he will ease Brown back into action. If healthy, Brown could be a good option at running back this season, especially with Jake Long now in the mix.
FALCONS: Horn is a Big Distraction
July 28, 2008
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Joe Horn reportedly did not study the Falcons’ playbook over the summer, nor did he participate in any drills with the team’s quarterbacks during the first three days of practices, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
BOTTOM LINE: You can bet that the Falcons would be willing to trade Horn if a worthwhile offer was presented to them, but Horn is hurting his appeal as the days roll by. It could be possible that the Falcons will cut him just to get rid of the unnecessary distraction. We will have to wait and see.
Jaguars: Consider Signing Terry Glenn
July 28, 2008
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn may be on the radar of the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the Florida Times-Union.
BOTTOM LINE: The Jaguars’ receiving core has been decimated by injuries, and Glenn may be the best option out there at the current time. If signed, Glenn may have a shot to accumulate value.
REDSKINS: Thomas Carted Off Field
July 25, 2008
Washington Redskins wide receiver Devin Thomas will be out 10-14 days after being carted off the field during Thursay’s practice with a pulled hamstring, according to the Washington Post.
BOTTOM LINE: Thomas seems to be a guy who could have a nice rookie campaign if this bum hamstring doesn’t limit his mobility. Keep a close eye on him, because this could be a guy who is a fantasy sleeper.
JETS: Lock Up Gholston
July 25, 2008
New York Jets first round pick Vernon Gholston signed with the Jets Thursday, according to Newsday.
BOTTOM LINE: Gholston will be a nice boost for the Jets on defense, and his addition alone makes the Jets a more formidable pass rushing team.
CARDINALS: Boldin Contract Talks End
July 25, 2008
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin has changed course regarding a contract extension, as he’s breaking off negotiations with the Cardinals with the plan of leaving the team as a free agent after his contract is up after the 2010 season, according to the East Valley Tribune.
BOTTOM LINE: Boldin was promised after last season that the situation would be resolved by now. The Cardinals should reconsider their position and get the deal done, because Boldin is a top ten wide receiver in fantasy.
BROWNS: Stalloworth Injured
July 25, 2008
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth injured his hamstring while preparing for training camp, according to the Browns’ official web site.
BOTTOM LINE: He is only expected to miss a few days, and should be fine after that. He may be in line for a fantasy boost this year with Derek Anderson as his quarterback.
BEARS: Hester Holding Out
July 24, 2008
Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester is officially a training camp holdout, the Chicago Tribune reports.
BOTTOM LINE: Hester doesn’t think he can survive on $450,000, and he wants to be paid like a receiver, even though he’s caught only 20 passes in his last two seasons. He is a great return man, but he hasn’t proven himself as a receiver yet.
SAINTS: Colston Extended
July 24, 2008
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston has agreed to terms on a three-year extension with the Saints, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune.
BOTTOM LINE: This was a no brainer for New Orleans, seeing how Colston has already been playing at a high level. He stands to benefit from the new acquisition of Jeremy Shockey.
CHARGERS: Rivers Ready To Go
July 23, 2008
San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers declared himself fully recovered from January surgery to repair his torn ACL, according to the San Diego North County Times.

COLTS: Manning Starts Pre Season on PUP List
July 23, 2008
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
BOTTOM LINE: No need to be concerned. The Colts expect him to return before pre season is over. He is still the best QB option in fantasy.
SAINTS: Acquire Jeremy Shockey
July 22, 2008
Former New York Giants tighth end Jeremy Shockey was acquired by the New Orleans Saints for a second-round and fifth-round draft pick in 2009, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
BOTTOM LINE: Eli Manning clearly was uncomfortable with Shockey, and the honeymoon in New York was clearly over. This was the best move for all parties, because now Shockey may be a top six tight end in New Orleans.
CHARGERS: Gates Optimistic
July 22, 2008
San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates tested his surgically repaired left big toe at training camp Monday by cutting and running on a side field, according to the Associated Press.
