CELTICS: Pierce Handcuffed

Boston Celtics guard Paul Pierce was detained in handcuffs during a traffic stop in Las Vegas this weekend, but was released without receiving a summons, according to the Associated Press.
BOTTOM LINE: Pierce was not arrested, so this seems to be the extent of the news. Pierce is a must start in all leagues next season.
CAVLIERS: LeBron Returns

Clevaland Cavaliers forward LeBron James scored 20 points and played solid defense to lead the U.S. Team to a 114-82 win over Turkey, and proved that his injured ankle is fine.
BOTTOM LINE: The Olympic team and the Cavaliers are probably letting out a sigh of relief. LeBron will continue to play and should play a huge role in the summer olympics.
BULLS: Sign Deng Long Term

BOTTOM LINE: The Bulls are expecting Deng to be a big part of their future, and rightfully so. He is a guy who could be a breakout candidate in fantasy this season.
ROCKETS: Acquire Ron Artest

Former Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest will be traded to Houston for Bobby Jackson, a No. 1 draft pick and another player, according to the Houston Chronicle.
BOTTOM LINE: Artest made himself unwelcomed in Sacramento, and if his track record remains, he will do the same in Houston. If he keeps himself in line, he could be a great addition for the Rockets.
CLIPPERS: Sign Ricky Davis

Free Agent guard Ricky Davis signed a multi-year deal with the Clippers on Monday, according to the Associated Press.
BOTTOM LINE: While this isn’t exactly a blockbuster signing, this was a nice addition by the Clippers. Davis now will give them a sharpshooter off of the bench. Davis averaged over 13 points per game for the Heat last season.
BOBCATS: Close to Signing Okafor Long-term

BOTTOM LINE: It always seemed like a mere formality, but it will be interesting to see if the Bobcats still pursue a trade. It looked as if Okafor has played his last game in Charlotte, but now, we are not so sure.
PISTONS: Sign Kwame Brown

BOTTOM LINE: That came out of nowhere. There were plenty of teams interested in his services, but the Pistons were never known to be one of them. This may be a precursor to a trade, but if not, Brown will back up Antonio McDyess at center.
SPURS: Want Michael Finley Back

Free Agent forward Michael Finley is still drawing interest from the San Antonio Spurs, and apparently, he is listening, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
BOTTOM LINE: Finley still can play, and the Spurs would see him as a sixth man kind of player. He has a lethal jump shot, and he would be a nice addition to the bench. Don’t expect him to be a viable fantasy option next season.
LAKERS: Bynum Cleared For All Activity

Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum, who is working his way back from knee surgery, worked out for Lakers team doctors earlier this week, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
BOTTOM LINE: Bynum has been cleared for all activities, and the Lakers are going to be downright scary when he and Pau Gasol are on the court together. Who knows? Maybe Bynum would have been the difference in the finals. He should be a solid fantasy asset next season, as long as he can prove that he is healthy.
WARRIORS: Biedrins Signs Long-Term Deal

Golden State Warriors forward Andris Biedrins agreed to a six-year contract with Golden State worth nearly $63 million, according to ESPN.com.
BOTTOM LINE: Biedrins returns after Golden State said that they would keep both he and Monta Ellis. They kept their word, and also have added Corey Maggette. This team may be formidable to compete next season. Biedrins and Ellis will be Warriors for a long time.
SUNS: Lopez Excels in Summer League

Phoenix Suns center Robin Lopez averaged 14 points and 7.8 rebounds during the Las Vegas Summer League, but showed little stamina, according to the East Valley Tribune.
BOTTOM LINE: Lopez still has a lot to learn, but he definitely has the makings to be a solid starter at the NBA level. His summer league results were encouraging, but remember, the MVP of Summer League last year was Nate Robinson. That speaks volumes.
WARRIORS: Ellis Re-Signs

Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis signed a multi-year deal on Thursday to remain with the Warriors, according to the Associated Press.
BOTTOM LINE: Right now, Ellis is slated to begn the year as the Warriors’ point guard, although he is much more valuable in the shooting guard position. The deal was reportedly worth $66 million over six seasons. He will be a popular commodity come round five in drafts.
